In accordance with European legislation, Apple has introduced a USB-C port on its new iPhone 15 and also unveiled new accessories such as a Lightning to USB-C adapter at €35, a fairly prohibitive price.
More accessible accessories from the competition
Apple’s adapter has a braided cable, this feature would enhance the durability of the device. But realistically, at this price, unless you have accessories with built-in Lightning jacks (like a dock), you should probably buy new USB-C cables for your phone. Moreover, the USB-C to Lightning cable (1 m) marketed by Apple is already more affordable since it is sold for €25.
The adapter also costs more than USB-C cables from reputable brands like Amazon Basics. These cables should be able to charge your new iPhones or transfer data for use with apps like Apple CarPlay.
And if all you need is some new charging cables, there’s no shortage of options, the Amazon Basics double-braided nylon USB-C to USB-C model is for example available for less than 10€ (3 meters).
