Honor Magic V2 has an improved build and hinge. It features a Luban titanium alloy hinge with Honor’s self-developed shield steel which supports the staggering 400,000 times of folding capability. It is no surprise that this is the first foldable smartphone to obtain the SGS gold standard certification for folding. For the display and body, the device uses the second-generation nano-microcrystalline glass cover which has also been rated with 5 stars by SGS for its resistance to scratches and wear. At the same time, the device is extremely thin measuring only 4.7 mm when unfolded and 9.9 mm when folded. It also weighs only 231 grams. The available colors include Elegant Black, Velvet Black, Velvet Purple, and Cloudy Gold.
In addition, Honor Magic V2 is based on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with a 3.36GHz octa-core CPU. Combined with the optimized software performance of MagicOS 7.2, it significantly reduces lag and delivers shorter app startup speeds. Hence, here’s another SGS gold certification for smooth operation. The foldable is powered by a 5000 mAh battery split in two cells – one for each part of the device. It supports 66W fast charging. The battery and chipset are aided by Honor’s cicada wing liquid cooling system which effectively drives away heat from these key components.
As for the cameras, Honor Magic V2 is no less competitive. On the rear shell, there’s a triple camera island module with the three lens aligned vertically in the top left corner. The main camera uses a 50MP sensor with OIS. The second one is a 50MP ultra-wide unit. The third shooter is a 20MP telephoto one with OIS as well. There are two 16MP cameras for selfies – on the external screen and one on the internal display.
Honor Magic V2 will go on pre-sale on July 17 and full sale begins on July 20th. The device is priced as follows:
- 16GB+256GB = CNY 8999
- 16GB+512GB = CNY 9999
There’s an Honor Magic V2 Ultimate Edition priced at CNY 11999. It offers a vegan leather finish, gold accents, and a stylus.
