When is Cyber Monday 2022?

While Black Friday denotes the day after folks in the US observe Thanksgiving, aka the fourth Thursday in November each year, Cyber Monday represents the following Monday. This year, Cyber Monday officially begins on Nov. 28, but many of the best Black Friday deals are trickling through the weekend and setting the stage for shopping spree round two.

Which stores are having Cyber Monday sales?

All major retailers — both online and brick-and-mortar stores — are holding Cyber Monday 2022 sales. That includes the likes of Amazon, Best Buy, Target and Walmart, as well as more specialized retailers such as B&H Photo, GameStop and Dell. Several retailers have already launched pretty great sales on Black Friday, many of which. are still available, with others going live in the coming days.

When do Cyber Monday deals start?

The official Cyber Monday date is Nov. 28, 2022. A lot of doorbuster deals and ultra-limited-time offers have already gone live on Black Friday, which kicked off on Nov. 25, 2022. These are likely to run through the weekend, while supplies last.

Keep up to date on the best markdowns by checking this page periodically as we roll up to Cyber Monday, as well as on the day itself.

When do Cyber Monday deals end?

While we can’t predict exactly how Cyber Monday 2022 will go, previous years show us that Black Friday sales tend to span the final weekend in November and culminate in Cyber Monday sales on the subsequent Monday.

The best limited-time sales will likely begin to dry up as Cyber Monday sales wrap up, though retailers have been known to extend some sales into December to capitalize on the holiday gift buying season.

What time do retailers open on Cyber Monday?

Some retailers like to kick off their Cyber Monday sales bright and early (dark and early?) at 12:01 a.m. on Monday itself, though start times can vary depending on the store. Plus, because many Cyber Monday deals are identical to their Black Friday counterparts, you might be able to get an idea of what’s to come by perusing markdowns currently available.

Are Cyber Monday deals available in-person?

Though Cyber Monday deals are usually exclusively available online, you might be able to catch some big discounts in-store, too — especially because Black Friday deals tend to trickle into the days following.

Why is it called ‘Black Friday’ and ‘Cyber Monday’?

Throughout history, the term “black” has been used to denote distressing or calamitous events. The earliest known use of Black Friday for the Friday after Thanksgiving was to refer to the practice of workers calling in sick the day after Thanksgiving in the early 1950s. Around that same time, US police adopted the term to describe the traffic conditions during the first major holiday shopping date.

After attempts to move to the term “Big Friday” failed, merchants attempted to ameliorate the term Black Friday in subsequent years, suggesting that its origin was not due to the poor traffic conditions the shopping day created, but because the profit it generated put stores “back in the black” in financial terms.

Then, in 2005, the National Retail Federation coined the term “Cyber Monday” because it had noticed a spike in online traffic the Monday following Thanksgiving. At the time, they believed it was because people were making online purchases while they were at work following the holiday so their kids couldn’t see any gift purchases and because work computers usually have faster internet connection.

There was some chatter about calling the date Black Monday or Blue Monday — because hyperlinks are blue — but eventually, everyone settled on the more futuristic-sounding Cyber Monday. In 2014, Cyber Monday became the biggest online shopping day in the country.

How do I prepare for Cyber Monday?

Ultimately, preparing for Cyber Monday comes down to research, planning, budgeting and a bit of good luck. It also doesn’t hurt to catch up on some Black Friday deals still available, like the ones we’ve linked up top and all throughout our site.
