Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is official with a 200MP camera and advanced shooting capabilitiesSamsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is now official and even though on the outside it looks the same as the Galaxy S22 Ultra, it is not. True to its philosophy of providing meaningful innovation has focused on every detail of the smartphone to provide a meaningful upgrade and flawless software to underpin it.

The main focus point of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is its camera department. The smartphone features the latest 200MP ISOCELL HP2 sensor that ensures pro-grade photo and video shooting. The 200MP main wide camera is positioned in the middle between the other two shooters on the back of the device. The adaptive tetra-squared pixel sensor allows you to shoot 12MP in low light thanks to 16-in-1 pixel binning. In standard light, you can shoot 50MP photos with 4-in-1 pixel binning. The Super Quad Pixel autofocus technology ensures faster and more accurate focus even in darker environments thanks to the increased number of reference points the sensor is able to process. Samsung has included an Expert RAW mode for professionals. Obviously, the Galaxy S23 Ultra also provides a true cinematic experience. It is capable of shooting 4K Super HDR videos at 60 fps and 8K videos at 30 fps thanks to the 12-bit dynamic range it supports and the 1.5x increased full well capacity. A new Astro Hyperlapse video mode is also added. Video shooting stabilization has been improved thanks to Adaptive VDIS and the new 2x wider OIS angle. A Camera Assistant has been added to the camera software offering additional features such as Auto HDR, Auto lens switching, etc.

The selfie camera is also new and is used on all three Galaxy S23 models. This is a 12MP unit with autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture. The Galaxy S23 Ultra also has a 10MP telephoto periscope camera with 10x zoom and an f/4.9 aperture, a 10MP telephoto unit with 3x zoom and an f/2.4 aperture, and a 12MP ultra-wide lens with autofocus and an f/2.2 aperture.

Another noteworthy feature of the Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra is that for the first time, the yearly flagship will arrive with a Qualcomm Snapdragon chipset only. No Exynos options in 2023. Moreover, Samsung and Qualcomm have been working together to customize the Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 mobile platform to fit at its best each of the devices from the Galaxy S23 series. On the Galaxy S23 Ultra, the octa-core CPU houses a 3.36GHz Cortex-X3 core and the Adreno 740 GPU is clocked at 719MHz up from 680MHz on the standard version of the chip.

The Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra has the same battery as the previous generations – a 5000 mAh unit. It supports 45W fast charging but you have to buy separately a compatible cable and charger. Wireless and reverse wireless charging are also supported.

As for the display, there are not changes there as well. The Galaxy S23 Ultra features a 6.8-inch Dynamic AMOLED 2x display with a QHD+ resolution of 1440 x 3088 pixels. It supports an adaptive refresh rate from 1Hz to 120Hz and delivers a peak brightness of 1750 nits. Samsung has updated the Vision Booster by making it smarter and more efficient in changed color tone and contrast. The protection is increased by using the new Corning Gorilla Glass Victus 2 not only on the front but also on the back.

Samsung Galaxy S23 Ultra also arrives with a new color palette. It is available in Cream, Green, Phantom Black, and Lavender colors. The RAM+storage versions are 8GB+256GB, 12GB+256GB, 12GB+512Gb, and 12GB+1TB. In Europe, prices start at EUR 1400, and in the USA – from USD 1200.
