Sharp unveiled the AQUOS R8 Pro with a 1" image sensor by LeicaSharp Aquos R8 Pro has been unveiled today featuring a 1″ image sensor by Leica. It powers the 47MP main camera of the device which has been jointly developed by Leica and Sharp and features an f/1.9 Summicron lens with 19 mm focal length equivalent. The 14-channel spectral sensor measures and corrects the intensity and color of light during shooting resulting in realistic colors and detail in various lighting conditions. HDR shooting speed is about 40% faster compared to the R7 Pro. There’s a dedicated mode for a starry sky and fireworks shooting at night. There’s a 12.6MP camera for selfies with a 27 mm focal length equivalent and an f/2.3 aperture.

Sharp Aquos R8 Pro is based on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2 chipset with a new thermal management system that has a unique heat dissipation design. The SoC is paired with 12GB of LPDDR5X RAM and 256GB of UFS 4.0 storage. The phone is also equipped with Sharp’s original 6.6-inch IGZO Pro OLED display with a VRR from 1Hz to 240Hz, 10-bit color bit depth, and Dolby Vision HDR. The display has a resolution of 1260 x 2730 pixels. A 3D ultrasonic fingerprint sensor (Qualcomm 3D Sonic Max) is built under the display. Power is supplied by a 5000 mAh battery. The smartphone runs on Android 13 with three years of free OS upgrades. It is also IP68 certified for being resistant to water, dust, and dirt.

Sharp rounded off today’s announcement of new smartphones with the third generation of its Wish series. The Sharp Aquos Wish3 is based on a MediaTek Dimensity 700 chipset paired with 4GB of RAM and 64GB of storage. The device has an IP67 rating for water and dust resistance.
