UMIDIGI G5 Mecha has been launched today. The main focus of this smartphone is to combine elegant design and ruggedized qualities. It is IP68 and IP69K rated for being resistant to water, dust, and drops. It also bears MIL-STD-810G certification. At the same time, its body is made of an AG composite material combined with TPU rubber for additional cushioning on the corners. Compared to other rugged smartphones, the G5 Mecha is very lightweight – 220 grams and is only 10 mm thick. The IPS display is protected by a Corning Gorilla Glass 5. It has a 6.6-inch diagonal size and a low resolution – HD+ (720 x 161 px). The V-notch houses an 8MP camera for selfies with an f/2.2 aperture. On the back, there’s a 50MP main shooter and a 2MP macro lens. The device has a smart BOX speaker, a 3.5 mm headphone jack, a USB Type-C port, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor. It is powered by a 6000 mAh battery with 10W charging support and is based on a Unisdoc T606 chipset. The latter is paired with 8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB of UFS 2.1 storage that can be expanded.
