WhatsApp users who benefit from the 15 GB of free storage on Google Drive granted with a Google account will have to clean up their act. Indeed, starting next year, WhatsApp backups on Android will be taken into account in the Google Drive space. This practice lasted until 2018, when it was stopped. The Californian giant specifies that people with a professional or school Workspace subscription are not affected by this change.

The Mountain View firm takes the opportunity to highlight its paid Google One service which offers storage extensions on Drive as well as a VPN. “ To help you make the transition, we’ll soon be offering limited, one-time promotions to eligible users on Google One », Google advertises.
