Xiaomi India has unveiled the Redmi 12 5G for the local market. This model strongly resembles the Redmi 12 4G announced a month and a half earlier and is even more similar to the Redmi Note 12R Pro announced in China more than a month ago. The Redmi 12 5G is based on a Snapdragon 4 Gen 2 chipset with a 2.2GHZ octa-core CPU and a 955MHz Adreno 613 GPU. There are versions with 4GB/6GB/8GB of LPDDR4X RAM and 128GB/256GB of UFS 2.2 storage. Power is supplied by a 5000 mAh battery with 18W fast charging support. However, there’s a 22.5W fast charger in the box. The front of the Redmi 12 5G is adorned with a 6.79-inch IPS display with an FHD+ resolution, a 90Hz refresh rate, and 550 nits of brightness. The camera department comprises an 8MP selfie snapper with an f/2.0 aperture and a 50MP main camera with an f/1.8 aperture and a 2MP depth sensor. The device has a flat design with Corning Gorilla Glass 3 for protection and an IP53 rating for being resistant to water splashes and dust. The available colors include Jade Black, Pastel Blue, and Moonstone Silver. It runs on MIUI 14 based on Android 13 and supports Bluetooth 5.2, Wi-Fi 5. The smartphone is also fitted with an IR blaster, a USB Type-C port, a headphone jack, and a side-mounted fingerprint sensor.
